I’ve been caught up in a whirlwind of activity since returning from Paris, but I wanted to share a quick post about French blooms. Here are some of the beautiful flowers I photographed while I was in France.
On our first walk in Paris, we noticed that the streets were lined with flowering white and pink chestnut trees. The pink blooms at the top of the post are an example.
As we were leaving Massachusetts, buds were forming on our shrubs. It’s always hard to miss the spring flowers, but Paris has them too and we looked forward to seeing them.
Coming around the corner of this spectacular building, I was wowed by the profusion of pink roses and the building details! The dark green of the rose bush contrasted nicely with the chartreuse vines and pine below.
Balcony window boxes were already planted and windows several stories high sported vivid carnations and other plant displays.
A park outside of our subway stop had a fountain with a beautiful garden, including these calla lilies. We’d stop for a coffee at the café next to it and take time to admire the garden and watch the people walk past.
We walked everywhere. Miles and miles every day. During our walks we came across small parks filled with gardens. It was always nice to slip inside and sit for a while.
I thought that we would miss lilacs at home, which turned out to not be the case, but I appreciated seeing them in Paris. These were too high to reach, so I couldn’t stick my nose into them and breathe deeply. Luckily, I found other bunches that were accessible and I smelled them every chance I got. Their brief season makes them so precious.
Wisteria is another spring favorite and we saw plenty of it in France.
Flowering shrubs were everywhere! This mock orange sparkled with water drops after a rain.
The blooms on this weigela were vibrant and contrasted nicely with the variegated green and white leaves.
This rhododendron was particularly spectacular and reminded me of home.
I could share pages of flowers, but I’ll stop now and share more later. I hope that your walks are filled with spring flowers.
