It is iris season and it has been an exceptional year for irises. I’m seeing so many varieties on my neighborhood walks. Here are a few of my favorite irises this year.
The saturated dark yellow of these irises is stunning.
Ruffles, ruffles and more ruffles. These peach irises bring to mind a young lady’s gown at a cotillion.
I love how the mottled purple moves to a rich, almost solid color on the outer petals of these yellow and purple irises. The delicate yellow border around the petal edges is perfection.
These irises are the colors of butter and sugar corn on the cob (next season’s pleasure).
Although the rust color of these irises reminds me of fall colors, they are a stunning addition to the spring palette.
Last, but not least, the velvety richness of these dark purple irises feels like an inky summer night.

Would have been nice if you had pro ided cultivar names!
Hi Daisy. I agree. It would be great if I had the time to research all of the plants that I include in my photos, so that I can include the cultivars. Perhaps I can work on that when I retire. I’d love to know them myself. Thank you for the suggestion.
