Independence Day, 2018. Lately the news has been pretty bleak. This year we lost more kids to gun violence. We separated children from their parents at our border. We refused to serve our neighbors because of their lifestyle preferences, political beliefs or who they work for.

An Unexpected Tragedy

I arrived in South Carolina yesterday, looking forward to spending time with my two sisters. I haven’t been here in years and I was so excited to be visiting my sisters in their home state. I was long overdue for this visit.
