Charred orange slices add a unique flavor to these Burnt Orange Negroni cocktails. The orange nicely balances the bitters in the drink.
I love a good Negroni. I’ll take a classic version made with Campari or a version made with Gran Classico. I also like changing things up with the flavors of fruit, as with this burnt orange version.
Grab an orange of your choice, slice it, burn it just a bit and serve these delicious Burnt Orange Negroni cocktails at your next dinner party.
This recipe makes two cocktails.
Ingredients
- 1 ounce Campari
- 1 ounce gin
- 1 ounce sweet (red) vermouth
- 1 orange sliced (reserve one slice cut in half for garnish)
- Ice
Directions
Set your oven to broil. Put two orange slices on a small baking sheet and broil them until slightly charred. You want a dark char on the slices. Using tongs, turn them over and char the other side. Remove them from the oven and let them cool.
Add the slices to a cocktail pitcher and muddle them well.
Add the Campari, gin and vermouth to the pitcher and stir well.
Add ice to two old fashioned glasses. Strain the cocktail into the glasses. Garnish with fresh orange slices and serve.
