It’s great that we can contribute to the world’s recycling movement with our clothing choices. We can remove plastic from our waterways and divert it from our landfills by wearing clothing made from recycled plastic.
There are some really nice options for clothes and accessories made from recycled plastic. Here are some that caught my attention.
ReNew Lightweight Half-Zip Puffer Jacket
This handsome puffer from Everlane is made from 15 recycled plastic bottles. It comes in black, the beautiful cream color shown in the post cover photo and in a nice looking surplus green.
ReNew Fleece Half-Zip Top
Another Everlane option is this fleece half-zip pullover, made from 36 recycled plastic bottles. I love this shade of French Blue, but it also comes in five other colors.
Leggings
These high-rise leggings from Girlfriend Collective are made from recycled plastic fishing nets. As they say on their website: “Did you know fishing nets make up 46% of all ocean plastic? Now you do.”
The leggings come in high-rise or classic-rise. They come in several beautiful colors. Girlfriend Collective knows that we are not all shaped like Barbie and they offer leggings in lots and lots of sizes! So happy about that.
Waste Nothing Jacket
This kimono style jacket from ADay is made from 41 water bottles.
It also comes in shades of white and tan.
Nano Puff Vest
This beautiful vest from Patagonia has a 100% recycled polyester shell and liner and fill made from 55% postconsumer recycled content.
Patagonia has been making clothing from recycled water bottles for years, setting a standard for other companies to follow.
Flats
These colorful flats from Rothy’s are made from recycled plastics.
Rothy’s has repurposed over 20 million plastic bottles, with no waste from the shoe-making process.
The shoes come in a huge variety of colors and designs. Don’t like pointed shoes? No worries. Rothy’s makes styles in round toe, loafer and sneaker styles too.
Runners
The shoelaces on these Allbirds Wool Runners are made from one recycled plastic bottle. Allbirds makes the body from responsibly-sourced wool. Castor bean oil is used to make the soles. Also, their packaging uses 90 percent recycled cardboard.
Allbirds shoes come in lots of colors and styles.
Polarized Sunglasses
These sunglasses from Norton Point are made from recovered high-density-polyethylene (HDPE) ocean plastics. Norton Point pledges to remove one pound of plastic from the ocean for each pair of sunglasses sold. Five percent of their net profits are reinvested in cleanup efforts.
Andi Tote
The fabric of this handsome gray denim tote from ANDI is made of recycled plastic bottles.
It has lots of room for a laptop and all of your other necessities.
Color Block Clutch
This brightly colored clutch from Urban Junket is made using five recycled plastic bottles.
The clutch comes in other appealing color combinations.
Long-Sleeve Tee Shirt
You can make a statement with this tee shirt from North Face. It’s made from single-use bottles collected from our national parks. Also, $1.00 of the cost supports the National Parks Foundation.
