Do you have someone on your shopping list who loves to invite guests over for spontaneous Friday night gatherings or a lavish holiday dinner? From items that are a bit of a splurge to stocking stuffers, here are gifts for the consummate entertainer.
Dipped Ceramic Pitcher
Who wouldn’t want to pour water from this beautiful hand thrown pitcher? Its tall silhouette will add grace and style to the table.
The pitcher is made by local artisans in North Carolina with the support of a nonprofit that works to revive local economies in rural areas through art and design.
Linen Coaster Set
These elegant flax and white linen coasters are trimmed in attractive colored threads. The Everyday Company in Massachusetts makes their linens from found fabrics. These coasters will protect surfaces and brighten the room.
They also have beautiful napkins.
Crystal Candle Holders
With their cut and polished edges, a cluster of these crystal candle holders is gorgeous. I recommend purchasing a set of three, one of each height (as shown in the photo). The modern architectural grouping makes a striking centerpiece. I have had a set for years and never put it away.
I recommend grouping the small, medium and large.
Throw in some white tea lights and your gift can be put to use immediately.
Porcelain Berry Bowl
A simple, vintage-inspired white berry bowl that will accentuate the bright colors of the berries it holds. This bowl can be used to gently rinse berries and then to serve the fruit at the table in style.
Cherry Wooden Bowl
I think that we would all enjoy showcasing a spectacular salad in this beautiful wooden bowl. It’s a generous 15 inches, hand-turned from a single piece of North American cherry and sourced from sustainably harvested forests.
This is a splurge gift for someone special, who will appreciate using this bowl for a lifetime. You might want to add some of this wood preserver to protect the lovely bowl.
Marble Wine Cooler
This white marble wine cooler will keep white wine cool at the table throughout a meal. I use one and it works very well.
Here’s a black marble option.
Champagne Stopper
After throwing away a couple of stoppers that didn’t hold up, I have a Champagne and Wine Stopper like this one and it really does the trick. The little arms grip the side of the bottle, holding the stopper tightly in place. Your bubbles are preserved in the bottle for another day.
Aēsop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Wash
Anyone who entertains appreciates the little extras. This hand wash is one of those extras. People rave about it. As described in this review, “It smells like someone smashed an orange all over some freshly cut cedar and then sprinkled rosemary on it, but in a muted way.”
This stuff is expensive, but those who love it claim that it is worth every penny. I needed convincing, so I stopped into an Aësop store and washed my hands. It was a really, really nice hand washing experience. Resurrection can now be experienced in my guest bathroom.
