We’re looking forward to a sunny island weekend. We’ll be working hard on yard projects, then cooling off with a dip in the ocean.
Have a glorious August weekend!
I’ve been taking advantage of time away from writing blog posts to work on yard projects, read books, and relax at the beach. July was rich with summer experiences and it felt like it lasted a wonderfully long time.
This week we enjoyed a salad of island-grown tomatoes, peaches, and burrata, topped with fresh basil from the garden and drizzled with good olive oil. What a treat!
We had our first corn of the season and it was so sweet it needed nothing added, no butter or salt. I love the sound of shucking corn, the squeak of the husk as you peel it back. The husks go right into the compost bin, making dirt for next year’s garden. I harvested some seaweed from the beach and added that to the compost too.
When I picked up corn at the farm stand, I grabbed a fresh bunch of colorful radishes to eat with butter and salt. The greens are so fresh, I’m inspired to make a batch of radish green pesto.
I’m going to continue a sporadic posting schedule, sharing when I have the time and inspiration.
