I’ve pulled together an eclectic selection of holiday gifts for family and friends this year. They include small stocking stuffers, gifts to thank your hosts, and a few splurge items.
I try to focus on local items and most of these gifts come from New England vendors. This year, there are also two gift suggestions from the Carolinas.
Amphitrite’s Linen Napkins
Give someone special a set of beautiful linen napkins to brighten their dinner table. Amphitrite’s owner, Katrina Kelley, sews and designs these beautiful napkins in Newcastle, Maine.
Linen napkins soften with each washing and last for years. These napkins come in a glorious assortment of colors, including the cherry red shown above. I also love the eggplant and indigo colors.
Amphitrite also sells tablecloths, hand towels, aprons, and bath towels.
Addison West’s Maple Stick Candle Pair
I am captivated by these maple stick candles. We received a set of the green candles from friends. Imagine your holiday table or fireplace mantle adorned with these elegant candles, which come in a variety of colors.
The candles are made in North Carolina from a tree cutting that is cast into a mold for the candles.
Bates Mill Store’s Herringbone Cotton Throw
Give a beautiful soft cotton throw from Bates Mill Store in Maine. This classic design comes in a several colors. You can also purchase it in blanket sizes.
Maine Sea Bags Chebeague Weekender Tote
The Chebeague Weekender Tote from Maine Sea Bags is a gift that will last for years. It’s made from recycled sail cloth, waxed canvas, and antique brass hardware. It is the perfect size for weekend getaways. It’s also available in navy and white.
Maine Sea Bags come in lots of sizes and options, such as belt bags, bucket bags, toiletry bags, and totes.
Smithey’s Carbon Steel Round Roaster
This round roaster is the perfect gift for someone who loves to cook. It’s lighter than cast iron, but just as durable. The pan can go from the oven or stovetop to the table. It’s an heirloom piece that will be enjoyed for years to come.
Smithey makes its pans in Charleston, South Carolina. The company makes other carbon steel pans and cast iron pans.
Curio Spice’s Pickling Kit
A pickling kit, from Curio Spice in Massachusetts, will give the recipient the joy of experimenting in the kitchen. It contains enough spice to make four jars of pickles and includes instructions and a jar in which to make the pickles.
Lark’s Deluxe Yuletide Box or Deluxe Solstice Box
A gift box of cookies from Lark Fine Foods, in Essex, MA, is a gift that will be enjoyed immediately. The Yuletide Box (shown in the photo at the top of this post) includes Mexican Chocolate Cha-Chas, Pistachio Cherry Sables, and sweet powder toffee almonds. The Deluxe Solstice Box includes Russian Tea Cakes, Coconut Butter Cookies, and beautifully wrapped milk chocolate coins and French almonds.
You can also purchase individual boxes of cookies or savory biscuits to share with family and friends.
Boston Honey Company’s Clethra Honey
Everyone appreciates a gift of honey and Boston Honey Company’s Clethra Honey sounds delicious. The company describes it as having a unique peppery and licorice-like taste that pairs well with cheeses or is delicious on its own.
The company offers other local honeys including Basswood and Wildflower. It also sells Massachusetts maple syrup and a selection of beeswax candles.
L.A. Burdicks Chocolate Snowmen
Boston’s L.A. Burdicks is one of the best chocolate makers I know. I am always delighted to receive a box of their confections. Their chocolate snowmen are adorable and delicious, as are their penguins and mice.
The Winter Collection box includes chocolates inspired by wintertime flavors, such as stollen, eggnog, grapefruit, and chestnut.
Cape Cod Provision’s Cranberry Bog Frogs
For stocking stuffers or sweet small offerings, grab some boxes of Cranberry Bog Frogs from Cape Cod Provisions in Wareham, MA. This confection is made with chocolate covered roasted cashews, cranberries, and caramel. It’s sure to be a hit.
Golden Dog Farm’s Plush Retriever
The Vermont Flannel Company created a flannel bandana for Golden Dog Farm’s adorable plush puppy. The pup’s bandana is available in red, green, or blue. This puppy will get lots of cuddles.
Massachusetts Bay Trading Co’s Boston Lobster Dice Game
Here’s a set of lobster-decorated dice to entertain the kids. The dice from a local Boston company includes instructions for two game options.
Jack & Mary Kid’s Mittens
Give a pair of cozy mittens from Jack & Mary in York, Maine. Their mittens are made from recycled sweaters and lined with fleece. Children’s mittens are sized for ages 5-8 and come in many designs and colors.
Jack & Mary also makes mittens for adults.
