I’ve found some gifts that we can feel good about giving. Items include things that are good for the planet, produced with the least amount of environmental impact, or from companies that donate to those in need.
Flower Bouquet from The Bouqs Co.
Give a flower bouquet from The Bouqs Co. to brighten your loved one’s home.
The Plumberry bouquet, shown in the top photo, is a lovely combination of pinks. I love the purple and orange combination in the Harvest bouquet and the yellow, pinks and reds in Sugar Rush. The greens and whites of Casablanca are elegant.
The Bouqs Co. partners with sustainable farms that minimize waste, recycle water, and protect workers’ well-being.
You can also send your favorite someone a monthly flower delivery.
Kei and Molly Flour Sack Dish Towels (and other textiles)
Kei and Molly flour sack dish towels, reusable bags or napkins make great gifts. With charming designs and bright colors, these cloth goods will add cheer to someone’s home. I like the Bluebonnet pattern shown above. These reusable cloth bags have a whimsical chicken design that is so appealing.
Kei and Molly are dedicated to creating good jobs for immigrants and refugees and they are committed to minimizing their impact on the environment.
Handmade Note Cards
Give your favorite letter writer a set of six elephant cards or “hello there” cards from Second Story Cards. These cards are designed by formerly homeless men and women. A percentage of the sale goes to them and to nonprofit organizations of their choice. The cards are printed on environment-friendly paper.
Bombas Merino Wool Socks
These merino wool socks for her or him will keep them warm on their winter walks. We’re all looking for ways to continue our outdoor activities this year and a four-pack of these socks will come in handy during the winter ahead. The socks are available in a wide range of beautiful colors, including some tie-dye blends. When you buy a pair of socks from Bombas, they donate a pair to someone who is homeless.
Another Bombas option that might please your outdoor lover is a wool-blend long sleeve tee shirt. Here’s one for women and one for men. I like the locker loop for hanging the shirt and thumb loops for keeping the sleeves in place as you pull on your coat. As with their socks, Bombas donates an item when you purchase something.
Charity Pot Body Lotion
Give your family and friends tubs of Lush’s cocoa butter lotion to keep their skin soft this winter. The lotion is scented with the fragrances of ylang ylang and rosewood oils.
I’ve included this lotion in my gift list before. I like that Charity Pot lotion contains ingredients sourced from Lush projects that support regenerative agriculture around the world. One hundred percent of sales from the lotion are donated to grassroots organizations.
Preserve Restaurants tee shirt
Give everyone who loves dining out (or simply loves a good cause) this Preserve Restaurants tee shirt. One hundred percent of the sale price goes to the One Fair Wage Emergency Fund to benefit restaurant and hourly workers nationwide who are experiencing economic hardship due to COVID-19.
A Toilet Paper Subscription
This isn’t a glamorous gift (although the wrapping is nice), but it might be perfect for someone who is housebound. Ship a box of Who Gives a Crap toilet paper or sign your loved one up for a subscription. There are two toilet paper options: recycled paper or bamboo paper, which I recommend.
There’s no plastic wrapping. Each roll is wrapped in decorative recycled paper. Who Gives a Crap donates 50% of their profits to help build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world. During the early days of the pandemic, they donated lots of toilet paper and money to people in need. I have a subscription and I love this company!
