It’s the weekend!

Beach Message Summer 2017

Summer isn’t officially over. Let’s enjoy every minute of it.

This weekend my husband and I are having a late anniversary dinner celebration. Maybe we’ll get to the beach on Sunday.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.

  • Harvey and Irma impacted so many people, who are in our thoughts and our hearts. This week many generous celebrities participated in the Hand in Hand fundraiser to raise money for hurricane victims. Here’s one news article about the fundraiser. It includes information about how to make a donation to hurricane victims.
  • I’ve been enjoying a lot of time on the ocean. There are so many great places near Boston to spend a sunny day near the water. See some of my favorite trips in Late Summer Coastal Day Trips from Boston.
  • What books did you read this summer? I could relate to this summer reading post on Cup of Jo. I remember a summer when I decided to read The Iliad and The Odyssey. I made it through The Iliad and then I grabbed some light reading. I need to finish the job!
Be sure to check out the comments on the Cup of Jo post. There are so many book suggestions.
  • Speaking of summer reading, when I left for a week’s vacation in July I brought along a pile of books (and some audio books). I barely made a dent in them. I spent of lot of time reading Emma. I love Jane Austen. This is a great line, “Emma denied none of it aloud, and agreed to none of it in private.” I’m thinking I should casually use it in conversation (in appropriate context of course). “Well, Joe denied none of it aloud and agreed to none of it in private.”
  • I was recently introduced to Kenesha Sneed in a post by Erica (of Honestly WTF). Sneed’s prints and ceramics are lovely. Here is more of her work.
I enjoyed Of a Kind’s interview with Kenesha, How Art Can Keep You Sane, According to Kenesha Sneed.
  • I made this Corn and Basil Orzotto from Kitchn. So good! I need more. Soon.
  • This ladle and lid stand is so useful in my kitchen. Before I got this handy gizmo, I was always trying to find a resting place for a hot lid when I remove it from the pot. The base is heavily weighted and it easily supports one of my largest lids.
